The Guido's ran Wednesdays in City Park at Roosevelt Mall during the summer. They did
a staggered start run and then went to Par Four for refreshments. (Sounds familiar).
Some people enjoyed it so much that they wanted to continue the Wednesday runs during the colder
months. So the Libido Social Runners were born. They ran at the lakefront because it got dark earlier
and the lighting was better. After a few years this also came to an end.
That's when River Road Runners was born. We originally met at an establishment called
Live Bait and did our 2mile run on the Mississippi River levee just across River Road. Since it was cooler at that time
of year it didn't matter that the levee had no shade. After the run it was back to Live Bait where food, beer and fun
was enjoyed by all.
This went on for a few years until Live Bait ceased to exist. After that the RRR's were
like nomads trying new establishments that would cater to our needs and were near a suitable running venue. Those were tough
times.
Then came the day when Guido was ready to give up the warmer month's Wednesday time slot.
By mutual agreement RRR began Running from April when Daylight Saving Time starts through October when DST ends. Since
the shadeless River levee is unsuitable for summer runs, we moved to the Guido course in City Park and found
the Blue Moon which is very runner friendly.
